Your shaker is only as good as what it sits on.
Most manufacturers offer shakers with hollow monobases to save costs. ALL Data Physics monobases are first reinforced with steel rebar and stiffening plates prior to being filled with concrete. A concrete-filled monobase dramatically increases the overall mass that is countering the forces generated in the shaker.
For example, one of our larger monobases – a 60-inch (152.4 cm) model – weighs in at 8,850 lbs. (4,014 kg) before being filled with concrete, and 20,000 lbs (9,072 kg) afterwards.

1 Enhanced Stability
- A concrete-filled monobase is significantly heavier than a hollow or sand-filled base, which reduces shaker body movement.
- The added weight lowers the center of gravity, making the setup more stable to prevent twisting or bending and less prone to rocking.
2 Improved Vibration Dampening
- Concrete’s natural damping properties combined with air isolation feet under the monobase keep vibration away from neighboring equipment and workspaces.
3 Reduced Resonance and Noise
- The rigidity of concrete helps minimize resonant frequencies, which can cause unwanted noise or harmonic vibrations. This is particularly important in precision applications like laboratory testing of industrial machinery, where vibration control is critical.
4 Serious Savings
- A concrete filled monobase approaches the performance of an in-ground reaction mass at a fraction of the cost.
5 Installation Flexibility
- The use of a concrete filled monobase allows the system to be moved as needs change where a reaction mass mounted shaker cannot be moved off the reaction mass.
- With its low profile, it is easy to work around and can be interfaced with thermal chambers.
- It provides repeatable shaker alignment: vertical to horizontal.
6 Optimized Slip Table Performance
- A heavy monobase stays put, and when a concrete-filled monobase is paired with a slip table employing Team T-film bearings, more of the energy goes into your test rather than shaking the monobase and floor.
Vibration Control for Any Shaker
The 900 Series vibration controller can quickly be set up to control any shaker – while the 900 series platform offers advanced features such as auto-aggregation of data from all test stands, custom Word-based reporting, unlimited expandability, concurrent data recording and signal analysis, intrinsic safety, and more.
